Trusted A/S was founded on December 1, 1999 (VAT no. DK-25106792) by a team driven by curiosity and innovation. From humble beginnings in rural Denmark, we have grown into a global leader in IoT tracking solutions for industries such as construction, logistics, and wind energy.

The Humble Beginnings
Trusted A/S began its story in the fall of 1999 when Christiane Nico Jensen-Haarup, now Technical Director, founded the company under the name Key7. With a strong background in electronic engineering and security systems, Nico started as a freelance developer before officially launching the business on December 1, 1999.
The early days were humble. Operations ran from the side wing of Nico’s father’s house in Kragelund, a small village in Jutland. Despite the modest setup, projects in the security sector arrived quickly, making it challenging to manage everything alone.
By July 1, 2000, hardware engineer Jørgen Brandt-Larsen joined the team. Both shared a passion for radio technology, and Nico recognized Jørgen’s exceptional engineering skills. In this new setup, Jørgen focused on hardware development while Nico handled technical tasks, customer relations, purchasing, and even office cleaning.
This partnership laid the foundation for what would become Trusted A/S—a company now known for market-leading IoT tracking solutions. From a small startup to a global innovator, our journey reflects more than 20 years of technical curiosity and commitment to excellence.
Securing Early Success
The Beginning of Trusted A/S
Changing the Business of GPS Tracking
In 2009, Trusted A/S founders Nico and Jørgen discovered GPS tracking devices through an advertising email. This curiosity led them to distribute tracking solutions that included both hardware and a web-based map service.
However, being inventive engineers, they aimed higher: creating their own battery-powered tracking device with longer battery life than anything on the market. Later that year, they introduced the T2, a groundbreaking device that could run for years on a single battery—an achievement few believed possible.
The T2 became a success and strengthened customer relationships. In 2012, Savannah Tracking approached Trusted A/S to develop wildlife tracking devices for endangered species in Africa. This project pushed the technology further, making the devices more robust, flexible, and durable—capable of thriving in harsh environments and across industries.
Today, Trusted A/S continues to innovate, building on this history to deliver advanced IoT tracking solutions for construction, logistics, and beyond.
Boost in Manpower and Technology
With the success within the tracking industry, a number of changes were made within the company during these years. Firstly, larger premises were once again needed in 2013 and offices moved to Randersvej in Silkeborg. Secondly, in the spring of 2014, the company decided to rename itself Trusted A/S to reflect the change to a new industry.
In the autumn of 2014, the local equity fund Insero Horsens made an investment in Trusted. This provided both a boost in the budget along with a boost in technology, as key employees were added to focus more on software and sales.
The introduction of a dedicated software solution released the potential of the tracking device. It enabled the creation of a complete tracking solution of top quality in both hardware and software – an innovative product which still marks the basis for Trusted’s services today.
International Focus and Growth
Driven by the ambition to create an industry-leading tracking solution, Trusted shifted its focus from a national market to an international strategy. Core segments such as rental, asset management, and theft protection became the foundation for global growth.
In February 2016, Niels Henrik Olesen joined Trusted as CEO, bringing experience as an electronics engineer, software developer, and manager. Under his leadership, the company strengthened its structure, improved financial control, and maintained a clear focus on continuous growth.
Later in 2016, Trusted introduced the S1 Iridium™ device, featuring pole-to-pole satellite tracking. This innovation marked a symbolic milestone—transforming Trusted into a truly global provider of advanced IoT tracking solutions.
Consolidation on the Big Scene
Trusted has maintained a strong commitment to optimizing its product line while expanding internationally. In recent years, the company has established customers, partnerships, and distributor agreements across Europe and the United States—marking a significant step toward global reach.
This strategy has fueled an impressive period of continuous economic growth. Alongside this success, Trusted has doubled its workforce and moved into larger facilities on Glarmestervej in Silkeborg, reflecting its ambition to modernize businesses worldwide.

Trusted A/S has come a long way since its humble beginnings in the side wing of a small country house in Kragelund. Today, founders Nico and Jørgen remain deeply involved in hardware development, ensuring the same commitment to quality and technical ingenuity that defined the company from day one.
Although the setup is much larger now, our motivation remains unchanged: solving real-world challenges for customers through innovative solutions. This drive runs through every part of the organization—from intelligent software development to a dedicated sales team and strong leadership.
